Stone Shepherd
I have been visiting this mystic place since 1989. The lonely stone pillar standing in the field is always surrounded by a special amosphere. The Stone Shepherd is located near Klobuky village not far from town of Slaný. I had been raised about 1km far from the village on the right hand side of the road going from Klobuky to Telce. It can be seen from a distance, towering in the flat landscape. It is about 3,5m tall and holds the record of Czech Republic´s tallest menhir.
The name Stone or Petrified Shepherd comes from the traditional story, telling us that the stone had been surrounded by a circle of nine stones - a herd of sheep that had been petrified together with their shepherd as a punishment... My son Ondra succeeded to do his first steps as a child here once, therefore I have a special feelings to this place.
